SWARM History

Team 957 was founded in 2002 at West Albany High School with the founding suppoort of Viper Northwest and HP. Working under the name "The Dawgs", a reference to the school's bulldog mascot.

A year later in 2003 team 1130 was started at South Albany High School under the name of the "Phantoms". For the next 8 years the teams operated independently competing and praticing with eachother.

During those 8 years Team 957 changed their name 4 more times. Switching to the name WASTON in 2004, then to WATSON in 2005. Then in 2008 they switched to the name The Pokebot Masters and then in 2009 they switched names one final time to West Albany Robotics.

The following year, with funding low, and a loss of interst in robotics from both South and West Albany High Schools, team 957 and 1130 merged into a single team, SWARM, at the time they used SWARM as an acroymn for South and West Albany Robotics Manicas, though we stopped using the acroymn in 2016.
