ABOUT TEAM 32047 - The Ti Binturongs
FTC Team 32047 - The Ti Binturongs is Albany Oregon's first all girls middle school robotics team. We are a student-led program committed to giving female, non-binary and female-identifying middle school students hands-on experience in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields. Over the course of an eight week "Build Season" students design, build, wire, program, test, calibrate, market, and compete with their fully functional robot in the qualifying tournaments in the Three Sisters League.
During our Outreach season, May through August, we recruit and train new team members and mentors, improve our skill set, fundraise, attend community outreach events, and work with our Community Partners.

STUDENTS
Team membership is open to any female, non-binary and female-identifying middle school student in grades 6-8 that attend any GAPS high school or live within the GAPS 8J School District attendance boundary.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION:
To ensure your safety while at the HIVE, team members and visitors are expected to wear the following:
You MUST be wearing LONG PANTS, ankle length, not torn or with holes
CLOSED-TOE SHOES (No crocs, flipflops, &c.)
Loose items such as sweatshirt ties, lanyards and jewelry, must be tucked in, or removed.
SAFETY GLASSES are also required, and must be clear (no tint) ANSI z87.1+ certified. Student team members are provided with safety glasses and pairs are availabe for visitors.
The shop can be loud 90+ decibels we only have a limited number of ear protectors, if you feel that you would want/need ear muffs constantly please bring your own.
MENTORS
Share your knowledge and experience by becoming a Mentor. No experience necessary.
Mentors are required to complete a FIRST® background check and Youth Protection Screening as well as complete a GAPS 8J District background check annually before being allowed to work with students. New mentors will serve on the team for a probationary period of 1 year.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Ti Binturongs participate in a variety of community events including the Linn Country Fair, Benton County Fair, and the NW Art and Air Festival.
We work with our sister teams, The Albany Volts, Aerospace and SWARM to help support several FLL (First Lego League) teams to help support and develop STEAM skills for elementary students in the Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) district.
ABOUT FTC
In FIRST® Tech Challenge, small teams of students ages 12-18 design, build, code, and operate robots to compete in thrilling competitions. Guided by adult coaches and mentors, students develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles, while realizing the value of innovation and teamwork. The robot kit is reusable from year-to-year and can be coded using a variety of programming languages. Students are encouraged to create team brands and be an ambassador for FIRST and STEM in their communities. Participants and alumni are eligible to apply for more than $80 million in scholarships and access career discovery opportunities and connections. FIRST Tech Challenge is one of three FIRST® programs helping to develop the next generation of leaders and innovators.
CURRENT CHALLANGE
In BIOBUZZ™ presented by RTX, a new challenge releasing September 12, 2026, FIRST® Tech Challenge teams will use engineering skills and amplify the excitement and energy found within the natural world. Our season will be kicked off on September 12, 2026.
